Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Patina?

Patina is a discoloration on the surface of the metal from exposure to atmosphere.

In my case, I get this effect by using chemicals, acids and science to get the desired color for the patina. The process is many steps. First, exposure to the acids on the surface (this can take weeks). Second; dry and cure time (days). Third; sand, buff and polish. Lastly; clean and coat each piece front and back. Final; assembly.

What is gold fill?

Unlike solid gold jewelry, gold-filled jewelry is a layer of gold that is bonded/coated to a base of another metal. Making it more affordable and durable.

I like to use gold fill ear wires if possible. Any piece that I’ve created that is not fabricated brass, will include gold fill ear wires.

Why does brass turn my skin green?

Brass is an alloy that contains copper. The moisture and acid on your skin reacts and oxidizes the metal, turning your skin a different color where you wear the jewelry, usually rings or other tight wearing spots.

It is SAFE. Over time of your continued wear, your body will adapt and the green will eventually stop, but may come back if wet for prolonged periods. Its totally natural.
